It will be my third time at the Rocky Mountain Archtop Festival. However, it will be my second time as a luthier, not just an observer. Previously we talked about Dark Matter... How about Big Bang now?

At last!

After many decades of searching, Dark Matter has finally been identified! The biggest surprise is that, contrary to scientific calculations, the mass of Dark Matter is not 85% of the visible Universe. It weighs only 1.6 kg (3.5 lbs).

Scientists are shocked because Dark Matter has taken the shape of an archtop guitar. Dark Matter was shown to the public for the first time at the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Artisan Guitar Show. Dark Matter, surprisingly, has a lighter side.

Woodstock Invitational Luthiers Showcase — side meetings

Although I was not presenting my work at the show, I took my guitars with me because I wanted to show them to some players and luthiers. The result of these meetings was great.

I was helping The Archtop Foundation present the most prominent collection of archtop guitars that ever existed: Scott Chinery's Blue Guitar Collection. The Archtop Foundation, represented by Ty Danco and Doug Baumoel, whom I met at the Rocky Mountain Archtop Festival, is the new custodian of these marvels. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to be close to these guitars. I have been fascinated by the collection for the past 15 years. You can see photographs from the event. I was helping the Foundation by staffing the booth and telling the story to anyone who wanted to hear it.

It was the second time I attended the Rocky Mountain Archtop Festival. The first time was in 2019 when Peter Henriksen of Henriksen Amps organized the first-ever Archtop Festival. I was a spectator then, watching my guitar-builder heroes, with no plan to show my work there. I decided to participate with my guitars in 2020. Then the pandemic started. We had to wait until 2022 for the second Rocky Mountain Archtop Festival.
